About Wasan Island
Wasan Island is situated on Lake Rosseau in the heart of the Muskoka Lakes, Ontario, Canada. It is privately owned by the Breuninger Foundation, a German based non-profit organization. In the summer, they host international conferences, symposiums and retreats in collaboration with organizations and people from around the world of all faiths, cultures and orientations. Their activities are not-for-profit and they offer leaders in civil society, culture, science and business the opportunity to develop their leadership and team- building skills through personal and professional development. Wasan Island is known as a place of retreat and exceptional learning. The peaceful natural landscape presents a spectacular environment for transformative experiences. Surrounded by nature, they offer a safe setting for people to profoundly connect with others and nature, enabling meaningful insights and empowering change for a sustainable future. |
The island measures about 2.67 hectares (6.6 acres). With its mix of historic and new buildings, it offers 14 well-appointed guest rooms as well as facilities for group gatherings and leisure activities. The drive from Pearson International Airport in Toronto to their shoreline is approximately 2.5 hours.
