The second gathering of Disruptive Imaginings took place in Vancouver (Fri 29 May – Thu 4 June 2015). The meeting objectives were as follows:

HAPPY FUTURES: IMAGINATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

Join us for a unique dialogue that asks, “how can we use our imagination to create the futures we want,” and shares techniques for leveraging storytelling, experiential design, and the arts to solve complex challenges with social innovation.
Presenters will include Erika Gregory, a theatre-trained social innovator from San Francisco; Joe Tankersley – an ‘optimistic futurist’ with eighteen years as a Disney Imagineer; Christophe Gouache – an industrial and strategic designer from Brussels. The dialogue will be moderated by Vanessa Timmer of One Earth, and is presented in partnership with Disruptive Imaginings, a conference bringing together these experts in the fields of arts, sustainability, and design to harness collective imaginings of compelling futures. ARTIST ROUNDTABLE (A.RT): NEW ECONOMIES

Location: Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre, SFU Woodwards (downtown Vancouver)
Public event engaging a group of artists, new economies experts and community change makers in an exciting morning discussion. It begins with remarks from a panel including Marilou Lemmens whose work examines the rationale upon which economic actions are described and represented, and how the logic of economy has come to infiltrate the most intimate aspects of life.
Funded by Musagetes and developed by Todd Lester and led by Toronto's Adjacent Possibilities.

This is part of an effort to explore new ways to engage citizens on key issues of our time. The sessions in Vancouver prototype a group activity designed to entertain, inform and empower. It is followed by a debrief on effectiveness and engagement.
